Twitter Changes their Advertising "Simplicity"

In an attempt to advance revenue, the social media giant Twitter will be selling stock publicly concurrently with their special "promoted tweets." For a small fee of $200000 one can purchase 24 hours of exposure to ever Twitter user. With this purchase, corporations can become on the top 10 most tweeted topics. A partnership with enterprises i.e ESPN tweeting videos and clips opens an array of advertising doors. Cooperation between twitter and others will net major profits for both parties. While this is a major advancement in ad campaigns, it raises the question of what is really important. Hundreds of millions of tweets are sent per day filling our heads with information, both trivial and valuable. These tweets determine what is tossed around our heads. Especially for Generation X, current events, health care etc. are being pushed aside for ESPN, NFL and other major corporations. While this social media revolution is incredible, it gives money the ability to triumph over important events.
